What is your aspiration?

At the most unexpected time today, I was called into my boss' office and the first sentence he said to me was:

"What is your aspiration?"

Three years into my job, I am thankful I still feel the passion for it.
The moment I enter this job, I know it is more for interest rather than fame and money.
There are times when I looked at my peers and are envious how well they are doing, travelling all over the world, enjoying the side of the society that I think I never will experience.

Saying so much., it's as good as saying I have no aspiration.

He interrupted my train of thoughts again with another question:

"Do you think you are interested in kp-ship at work?"
I was shocked my answer came out so quickly, "No. Not at the moment."
I think I stunned him. At 26, I ought to be more ambitious, have more aspiration. Attaining leadership position will definitely means a better prospect at work, though it means I have less time to do what I want at my job. How can I be so certain of what I want? Honestly, I am not 100% certain (especially when he told me opportunity doesn't always come knocking on your door).

I might sound 没出息 when I say this but I envision myself to end work on time, have some time to do grocery shopping and prepare a whipping hot meal (and sometimes supper) for WC when he returns from work. To go for one or two holiday together in a year, to do tuition if I need the extra cash, to indulge myself and buy some stuff I like once in a while. At least now I think I will get more satisfaction from this than from work.

This might not be accepted by many and you might say I have many years in my life in future to do that.
I think everyone has their own yardstick and one not necessarily has to be a cookie cutter girl to be accepted right? Seldom pen down my personal thoughts here though this blog is to serve as a diary for all my happy memories. Maybe a few years down the road when I start to doubt my choice, this will serve as a reminder for me, to remind me what I actually want in my life, what actually makes me happy :)

The Perfect Weekend :)

Weekend was great!
After a routine week at work, we love spending our Saturday afternoon lazing around doing nothing and enjoying each other's company :)
WC was craving for Korean BBQ, but most of the restaurants we wanted to try were fully booked.
Found Corner Place Barbecue on Hungrygowhere and decided to give it a try!

Conveniently located beside Marina Square Food court, this place is a hidden gem!

Look at the array of food!
The quality of the food and service was not compromised though the place was fully packed.

They even have a cooked food section with the chef preparing Dobokki and fried pancake. Yumz!

Happy us with the food!

For $30+ pax, I am so coming back though we risked smelling like barbecue meat again!

Wanted to find a chillout place but everywhere was closed at 10pm (except Starbucks which was freaking crowded)
We are always in a dilemma to go for late night dates cos transportation is so expensive (boo!) plus we will be so tired the next day. Long gone were the days we can go out for midnight shows and still do supper after that! LOL.

Still, we decided to check out Switch.
Always wanted to bring WC after my girls brought me there once.
It is a subsidary of Timbre so yea, the feel is like Timbre. Just that it is air-conditioned and they performed a mixture of both English and Chinese songs.

Saturday band never goes wrong.
I really like the band performiing that day!
GroundZero, Haha I even went to like them on Facebook.

There was some lame hooha going on about a guy in red shirt who is going after many girls that night.
So all the red shirt guys were called up on stage to dance.
It was pretty entertaining except that they cut short a bulk of the performing time by the band. Mehh.

I was feeling so happy in my world of music (especially when he sang Korean song too! *melts*)
Plus I had a good laugh at the sulky boyfriend cos I spoiled a BIG plan of WC two days in a row!

***********

I followed the group Project Awareness on Facebook and was so impressed by how determined the founders were in doing good for the underprivileged and how much the organisation has grown in a few months time.
I remember Bella sharing about how Richie believe in doing some good, be it big or small everyday and I thought it will be a good pointer to keep in mind.
Since Project Awareness always have ad hoc activities, I thought it will be a good platform for us to start some voluntary work again!
I was really glad that WC agreed so spontaneously (what surprises me more is Mummy volunteer to join us the next time round we go!)
It was our first voluntary service together and together with some other volunteers, we went to deliver packet lunch to some of the residents in the rented flats at Boon Keng.

Reminded me of schooling time when I was still volunteering with Red Cross and Interact club :)
I guess everyone gets a little busy meeting up with our life expectations that we forgot this group of people who needed more help than us.
A little bit of warmth, a small chat to show that we care do mean a great deal to them.

Our hearty lunch to replace a photo of us after two hours of work! :)
Everything taste good when you do good!

What makes the activity more endearing, I saw a different side of the mister :)
Glad that we share the same passion and can't wait for the next one together!

Saw this quote of Facebook a few days back and thought it makes loads of sense.

A year of Gratitude and love

A year has passed again and I think this year passed by really quickly, don't you agree?

Every year this time, my mind will automatically "rewind" and think about all the events that happened in the year.
I am thankful for 2012 cos it has been a really blessed year.
I am surrounded by my lovely family, especially my sister, my super loving boyfriend, the wonderful group of friends who never left my side and a job that I still enjoy after 3 years into it:)

This year, I feel that I have grown more than other years.
In a year, I witnessed many life events, good or bad, that seemed so surreal to me.
I lost a friend but he taught me to treasure those around me even more.
Wedding bells are ringing for some of my good friends- We used to sit around and talk about the lamest things but now our topics are always revolving around serious matters like housing, marriage, car loan etc. (Come to think of it, our house is actually coming next year!)

I used to care a lot about others' opinion of me because I can be so quiet in the presence of strangers and wonder how my friends managed to mingle so well with new found friends. However, I am a totally different person when I am in my comfort zone because I can laugh and talk about anything under the Sun with them. I can be so candid, do the dumbest thing but is never judged and still loved by them.
That's why I often tell WC that I have a split personality.
So at 25, I think I gave up making new friends! LOL.

I don't initiate meetups (cos I am lazy hehe) but I love meetups with my friends and I only try to maintain friendships when I see the other parties putting in effort. (So sad cos I think I lost a good friend this year)
On the surface I don't think I make a very good friend though I really am ok! haha.
So in 2013, I will try even harder to treasure all my loved ones around me!
Enough of such reflections cos I already did one with WC on New Year's eve (with a very lame "ceremony" hehe)

So Christmas and NYE's was spent with the loved ones :))

We wanted steamboat cos we had craving for it since we came back from NZ.
Coca didn't allow us to make reservations but had no vacancies for us :( so we I insisted on waiting till 9 for steamboat at JPot though our stomach were rumbling like mad! :D

See how happy we are!
The handsome boyfriend! Teehee.

Super love their seafood combo!

Ended off the night with a stroll at Vivo and then to Queens for a drink and our present exchange :)
Thank you love for such a sweet Christmas present this year! *muacks*
We seemed to be heading there every year but it's really hard to find a peaceful place on Christmas eve.

And guess what? New Year's Eve was steamboat again!
Mummy prepared a really sumptuous steamboat for us

And the 6 of us did a 'Yum Seng' to celebrate a good year ahead!

Cheers to a good year ahead!
Don't know why but I am exceptionally excited about 2013.
Let's give thanks to all blessing we receive, be it big or small and embrace all challenges ahead! :)
