Bridesmaid get together!

Had a bridesmaid get together last weekend.
I am honestly not very good at multi tasking. Planning for a home and wedding at the same time is no easy feat. While you are looking for the lights in your house, you are thinking about what to have at your solemnisation table.
It really decrease my efficiency level by ALOT. FML.

I NEED A TIMELINE!
And it doesn't help when school is starting in a month's time.

Side track too much, back to this.
My sisters have been asking me for a get together for everyone to know each other. But honestly, most of them know each other for more than a decade already. 熟到烂 already!
But we still decided to go ahead cos it's fun!

And I decided to make something for them.
I can only conclude my art sucks. Because this has been on my to-do-list for the longest time, I couldn't come up with  satisfactory gift. Dunno change how many times before I finalise on this. (Partially cos they were coming the next day haha)

So my bridesmaid team consist of my girls who were with me since Secondary school (same class all the way somemore), my closest hallmate and of course my sister! Bring it on, groomsmen!

Not just the most fun people to hang around with, they are the most chop-chop group.
Came and prep all the food for me.

Then we started planning for the wedding. They pointed out all the stuff I missed out so now all I need to do it to finalise it. (It's actually ALOT of stuff that I overlooked. Hahaha.)
Gate crash also done. Swee.

Then time for the dress! So glad they were all happy with what my minimal artistic talent can produce and all busy instaagramming after receiving it. Haha.
Yay! Bridesmaid stuff done. One more thing off the list!

End this off with some photos that I got from my photoshoot.
I am so happy with it and I can't wait to receive my edited album!
Despite WC's countless protest to only show our pictures during the wedding, I feel the urge to share cos I am so in love with it! HAHAHA.

So gonna put it at our place in future! Mad loveeeeeeeeeeeee

The fault in our stars

Ended the weekend in tears.
Because I got to watch The Fault in Our Stars!

I was craving for steamboat so we had our craving satisfied at the usual hangout.
It's so sad that there aren't many good steamboat around now. We used to go Bugis or Crystal Jade but the variety is getting lesser and the price keeps increasing :(

We weren't fans of John Green but decided it's a movie we wanted to catch.
I texted Bella a picture of our stubs cos she had been asking us to watch the show ever since she knew they were making it into a movie.

B: Can I have your stubs?
Me: I thought you watch already?
B: Cathay does not print out the whole title of the show ( I didn't even realise that)
Me: Ok lo.. But GV tears the stub.
B: Can you ask them not to tear your stub? Or maybe tear a small corner?
B: Then can my sis have the other stub too? Think we are going to frame it up.

Hahahaha super hardcore can!

The movie was good though the book was better.
You seldom see WC wanting to watch a movie the second time.
We love how true and realistic they portray love to be.
Love isn't always about happy ever after.  It allows you to feel both pain and happiness so we can learn to treasure it more.
And perhaps impeding death allows the characters to love without any fear and love with all their might, that's why you don't doubt their love and how much they love.

I told WC I won't cry since I didn't cry when reading the book, but from the scene when Aus was dying, my tears couldn't stop flowing after that. Damn touching la.
Love all the quotes!

WC's favourite quote. Haha.
I blog about Saturday OK?

OK.
(Got it? Cheap thrill to the max hahahaha)

*************

And Saturday was date night with WC's buddies.
We had a 3.5 hr Todai buffet in a VVIP room. (The manager made it sound like we were supposed to feel honoured that they are placing us inside. Hahaha but ok lo.. Nothing special)
We didn't eat that much though we had a really long buffet.
The spread wasn't exactly that fantastic for the $80 we paid, but I love the company!

There's always so much laughter and joke around with them :)
Most importantly, I love to see how happy the mister is during the meetup cos time doesn't permits them to meet up as often.
Can't wait for our place to be ready so we can host them!

Headed off for pool after that. The guys played and the girls chatted. Haha.
Feel so old school. The last time we head to a pool hall was in secondary school.

June is the birthday month!

June is one of my favourite month cos it's the month to get merry and fat.
There are so many birthdays celebrations around, including *ahem*mine. haha.

Peixi's birthday is not in June but just blog together since I forgot the other time.
We had a belated birthday celebration for Peixi at Royal China.
I don't think I will be there again anytime soon unless my friends arranged it.
Just check out Hungrygowhere, I can't believe East Ocean (my favourite dim sum place) is only 1% above in rating than Royal China.
IMO, it pales in comparison in terms of service and food, perhaps the only thing that was better was the Tiffany blue room and better ambience.

Happy Birthday my dearest!
Can't wait for PY to be back from US and baby Dionne to be born so we have a full strength of 6! :)

Birthday dinner for our favourite boss at Pu Tien.
My first time having dinner there and the food is real good!
So blessed to have a group of colleagues turned friends who is there for each other in and outside work.

And our chubby bunny turns a year older!
While Gen is enjoying her post-proposal honeymoon overseas, the rest of us had a simple celebration for Bella.
She always wanted to try dimsum at East Ocean so there we go!

A picture with my dearest girlfriends.
Quoting what Bella says, girlfriends are family that we chose for ourselves and so glad I have them in my life <3

To my sweetest girlfriend, may your everyday be blessed with happiness and love :)

I love short weeks like this!

Labour day tomorrow so this week seems much shorter!
Denial like this makes the dreadful weekdays passed by faster :)
Met HF on Monday for a catching up.

Because three of the four dishes at Soup Restaurant failed us, a collage is enough to help me document what we had that day.
That's why I prefer 店小二 all time.

There's always space for dessert after meal, especially when dinner is not satisfying enough.
We ended up having a HTHT, something I missed doing with her years ago.
We had some misunderstanding some time back, which led our friendship to drift away for some time before we decided to meet up again.
Things had gotten better these days and hope it continues to get better! :)
Sometimes all it takes is just courage to speak your heart out and two mature mindset to set everything right.

Hitched a ride from my colleagues to meet Jia at PS for dinner.
Not craving for anything so we settled at Tim Hor Wan.
Lucky us, don't know why they usher us in when there's a queue.
Twice we went, we had such luck!

Don't know what app Jia uses, the pictures always turn out this good.

This was surprisingly good and light.

Jia's favourite

But this was really good la.
I was contemplating to order the second serving though we were damn full.

Did some shopping before dropping by Baskin Robins for some ice cream!
The only branch that serves my favourite cotton candy flavour <3
I love Wednesday cos it's a 1 for 1 free scoop day!

Now who's the one who doesn't know where the camera is? Heehee.

Food For Thoughts: A new gem found!

Facebook really helps to bring friends together!
Yi Huey and I attended the same primary and secondary school and there were a year or two we were sitting partners in secondary schools!

We were chatting randomly on FB that day and she suggested a meet up.
It was really nice cos the last time we met were a few years back when she was still studying in Australia.
She suggested going to Food For Thoughts and I didn't know there's a branch at the National Museum!

It's such a hidden gem and I am so gonna get WC to go with me again!
The food is not exactly fantastic but I love the ambience.
It was a quaint, quiet place perfect for a cup of coffee with friends.

Pesto Chicken Pasta

Chili Prawn Aglio Olio

Cumin Fries that you can give a miss IMO

We had a nice long chat over dinner and I am so glad she is able to turn up for my wedding! :)
Unfortunately, I was having a really bad flu that day so I need to get back to rest.
We will plan again when she's back from her YEP trip!

Just one picture with my long-lost- friend!
Doesn't she look like Joi Chua?? Haha

Nepal adventure Part I: Nuwakot

Ended my last trip for this year :)
This time round to Nepal with my fun-loving colleagues!

I love all my photos so much I dunno how to eliminate them! Heehee.
Shall split the travelogue into 2 parts!
Arrived in Kathmandu and I am in love with the weather!
(Note: I didn't say I love the place YET!)

Let me tell you why. Okay so the 8 of us arrived after a loooooong check out at the airport.
And some guys came and "snatched" our luggage away to be placed on our bus.
To be fair, we know they didn't do that out of good will.
It's part of their livelihood but we were so tired and excited that we just let them do what they wanted.
But still, we really feel like 菜头 ok?

"Tip, tip, tip!"
And they gave a really unhappy look when my friend gave him US$4.
$4 very little meh??? It's like less than 5 meter walk from our bus lo!

And so we traveled onto the main road.
The road were so dusty, all the trees were brown.

Shopping.

The kind of roadside stores that we see..

Spilling buses. And many of them just spit on the road randomly.
We were quite taken aback though we were being separated by our glass window.

Checked in and got led to a restaurant by our local tour guide.
Haha I was quite skeptical about him because he looks a little cunning, don't you think?

No price for guessing who's our happy pill this trip!
And my constipated face :(
Cos I was having really bad gastric ever since my BKK trip.
Plus the food we had doesn't help! :(( ROARRRRRR

Haha I was so upset I didn't even bother to take a proper picture. Mamamia~~~

Day 2 - 4 : Trekking, community service at Nuwakot

So we began early the next morning for our trek.
And here's where I began to love Nepal!

After around 4 hours drive..

From this..

To this..

The first Nepalese house we saw when we stop for toilet break.

I don't know how to put into words but everything looks beautiful every time you step into a place like this.
Be it Sri Lanka, Nepal, Cambodia, there's always this tranquility you never seemed to get back home.
Time doesn't seemed to bother anymore and I love how I can stop and admire how beauty and simplicity of life.

Overcrowded bus again!

The happy trekkers!

If only our kids can treasure what they have in school..

Before our shoes get really dusty..

Yo bro!

Many of the roofs were just secured by a few pieces of rocks.

We walked hours to reach the bridge that leads to our village.

Look at the magnificent view!
Need a picture from bird-eye view!

The bridge becomes a link between the villages and a chill out place for the villagers.
But errr... isn't it a little dangerous there?

And finally! Another hour's drive to our home stay!
Look pretty good eh?

The view from our house. #serenity

Sneak peek into our kitchen

And the reason we had to rush back home was because we had to do a visit to the school where we were doing our CIP.

And we were quite lucky the school was celebrating their school anniversary that day (apparently it's quite a big deal cos they appeared on teevee!)
And we became their VIP hahaha!

The next day on our way to school.

And this is what we have been busying in school!

It was a short 3 days with them but we had so much fun together.
Painting, interaction, playing games together.
. I recalled a reflection we did years ago, "who is going to provide the same amount of care and attention for these children when we are gone? Don't give them things you will not be able to provide when you leave."
It's kinda sad, don't you think? But it made so much sense. At least I hope the kids had a little fun with us in that short get together :)

The reason why I love children so much. Their smiles are always so genuine :)

No reason for guessing who my favourite boy is! Hahaha

A very talented kiddo who sings damn well!

So glad these mute children are very taken care of in school :)

A man that I came to respect very much in the trip.
He's the ex principal of the school who was so hospitable and welcome us around the school. He no longer runs the school but is into home stay and resort business with his ex pupils.

I was quite skeptical at first but when I saw how he puts the children first in everything that he does, personally spent the whole day plucking out weeds in school till he's perspiring in the cold weather, teaching the children what to do in school because he feels that he should set a good example for the rest of them. Just when I feel a little inadequate in school, he showed us how he appreciate our presence because it sets a role model to his pupils that if foreigners are willing to come to your home ground to help you, there is no reason why you do not help yourselves.

A reminder to myself when I get back to work!

And finally back to our home to bid goodbye because we are heading back to Kathmandu!

Our hospitable guests :)

Our bedroom. Haha looks cosy rite?
But no one knows we were freezing all night in the room!
Thank god for the HTHT every night and cup noodle that tide us through the long nights :)

Just to show how misty it is in the morning.
Brushing teeth with mist surrounding you and goats hovering around you!

The bus just get more and more crowded!

And before we left, we received a little blessing from our host.
We had tika placed on our head. It is a mixture of abir, red powder, yoghurt and rice that I believed was to bless us with a safe journey for our trip.

Though I was laughed at for the extra big dot on my head, I thanked them for the warmest hospitality one could receive. And indeed it was the favourite part of my Nepal adventure!
Thank you Nuwakot! :)
