Our mini Batam adventure!

It's pretty amazing how we can even have an adventure in... Batam!

A getaway was much needed cos work has been really draining this period. So I was supposed to plan a "surprise" trip for WC but it turned out more of a shock for us.
We settled for Tempat Senang, rated 1st by tripadvisor (see the endless good reviews here!) and of course due to a miscalculation of budget on my part ( I was quite unwilling to spend $1000 in Batam!)

I had been raving to WC about how amazing the place is, till we reached Sekupang Terminal.
The guy who picked us up told us he could not find my name on the reservation list- in another words, they missed my reservation!
I wanted to cry on the spot! Especially when WC told me we might have to head home if we cannot get a good accommodation. *sobs*

We headed to Tempat Senang nonetheless, to see if they could provide us with any alternative solutions.
To our surprise, they actually promised us a fully paid trip to our desired theme room when we return again in May!
Yay cos we saved a thousand bucks but it also meant that we have to make alternative plans for the weekend :(

A hearty breakfast before our trip

Tempat Senang indeed live up to their expectations. The full compensation aside, they brought us to their restaurant for some food while we decide on where to go next and even drove us down to Turi Resort which is a good one hour drive away.

I was too upset to eat. Haha so I was forced to take a picture with the food instead.

I guess I will be fuming mad if this incident happened in other resorts, but they were so sincere and handled it so well we even post a good review on tripadvisor despite their big booboo! LOL

Maybe the eventful day makes me unwell on the first day.
Hahaha I can't take a roller coaster in my emotions!

Spent the two days chilling in our room and by the pool side, curling up in our bed to watch running men and playing UNO :)
So relaxed that these were the only pictures I took!

Our room! Spot our little babies!

End of the day, it's still the company that counts.
One more place checked in our travelogue. Looking forward to our next staycation in May! :))

Friends are God's way of taking care of us

I am blessed to have a bunch of good friends.
To make it better, good friends who love good food.
In the midst of the mundane routine and stress at work, my ladies at work will always make time for a good meal together.

I love the food at Antoinette

Their crepe never fail!

My seafood marinara. With a tinge of spiciness to cater to local flavour. YUMS!

We finally met up for a meal after our BIG angpow arrives.
First time trying Genki sushi at OC.
Pretty impressed with the food and the novelty that the train provides, I can now replace Genki with my usual Sakae sushi feed!

I love this candid shot!

Hate my curly fringe!!! :((

Went down to the basement of OC for dessert and I couldn't resist taking a picture of them. So cute!!!!

Dessert at Matcha House

My new found friends :)
It turns out to a blessing in disguise. While some might be ungrateful, but be glad we still have a group of friends who appreciate each other.

End off with a quote my MGS always use, so true rite???

Medley in love

Another mad week before my short getaway this Friday! :)

Albeit the madness at work, there's always time to chill and relax with friends!

Late night feast at Xinwang after our workshop. There's always food with these lovely colleagues around.
Dinner with Gen at Bugis Junction on Monday. First time trying Kazokutei and they served pretty decent sukiyaki at reasonable price :) And of course, the girly chit chat and so happy to know that my dear friend is sweetly in love with her beau!
Some late night "supper" with WC at Kovan. First time trying the chicken pot though we had walked past in a zillion times. Really nice I will say, but $25 for half a chicken is a tad too ex in my opinion. And yes, our supper is not exactly supper cos it's so heavy! Haha we always feel guilty after eating but we just can't resist good food!

Saturday night with my favourite girls!:)
Danjakk is not around cos we were there to discuss her hen's night party! And we finally remembered a picture together after endless chats and laughter!
And yours truly finally tried Wild Honey. Ok I know I am a little (in fact VERY) suaku but I am not exactly a brunch person so my trip there has been postponing till my girls suggested it.

Sunday date with my love :) Marina Square was having some balloon fair and I can't help snapping a picture of it cthe bright colour really made us happy!
We finally KTVed cos it's so cheap nowadays! And cos I am so in love with these songs I need to sing my heart out!

In love with medleys nowadays and I thought she looked pretty cool in this MV.

Darling introduced this to me and I kinda like this version better cos I can see the flow in the story.

And this has been on my repeat playlist in my phone ever since I heard it!
Love Jam Hsiao! So man lo!
I told I will marry WC even without a diamond ring if he can ever come up with such a sweet song for me! MUAHAHAHA

And a very cliche but catchy song

Till the next! Have a good week everybody!

Another week of fun!

Had a great weekend with the colleagues last week.
Reginia asked if we were interested to take part in National i- Trail Challenge (NiTC) organised by Crescent Girls' School.
I was like, why not? And it will be great to visit my alma mater again :)
.
.
.
.
So we received an email two weeks back to say we won the CHAMPION in the open category!!! *ka-ching ka-ching*

The organising committee invited us to try out this food trail at Henderson before the prize presentation and we were so glad we went cos it was so much fun!
Reginia and Lay Yen were such guru in that area and I had fun tagging along, solving puzzles and eating!

Happy us with our prata at Bukit Merah Market!

A picture with our very cute guide!
On a random note, see the difference in photo quality of an Iphone (above) and Samsung. haha

Korean lunch at Tiong Bahru Plaza after that to reward ourselves :)

My favourite budae jiggae!

And the next day, I finally got my lazy butt off for the first race in my life.
Did a 5km race with my colleagues at the Singapore City Race- Totally in love with my team!

A very talented artist spotted at Fort Canning:)

Funny Shawn trying to take short cut!

It was more of a brisk walk rather than run, and we had so much fun laughing and "running" around.
We were called Team Compassion cos we hope others will have compassion for us if we were too slow! HAHAHA
Want to join again next year, but maybe with WC and my sis or some friends for a different experience :)

Our first medal!!!

Headed down to HDB to pay our first down payment for the flat.
Pffft.. it cleared most of the CPF we spent accumulating after years of work.
A pleasant "shock" turned surprise for us cos OUR HOUSE WILL BE READY BY THE FIRST HALF OF THE YEAR NEXT YEAR! *jump around with joy*

Celebratory meal at Crystal Jade Steamboat cos I was craving for some hot soup.
The branch at Toa Payoh serves better food as compared to the one in PS though I thought the waitresses could be alittle more attentive.

Look at the fresh prawns!!!

The spread!!!

Back to work again!
TGIF!!!

Happy Birthday my Pisces babies!

Sometimes horoscope can be pretty accurate- like how they say Cancer is the most compatible with Pisces, Pisces happened to be my two favourite boys' horoscope too!!

It was daddy's birthday last Saturday.
We had a simple celebration at home cos daddy didn't fancy a celebration outside so he prepared steamboat   with mummy for us instead.

The steamboat must be really delicious.
See how everyone ignores my request to take picture??

No matter how much daddy resist, mummy insisted that daddy gets a cake for his birthday.
In fact he's the only one in the family who doesn't value birthday as much as the rest of us.
So 3 against 1, we got a birthday cake though we feel so stuffed after dinner! LOL.

See how happy daddy was!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY! WE LOVE YOU!!!

And this week, I celebrated WC's birthday!

I was pretty occupied with work these few weeks and did not have time to plan a as-BOOM-as-the-past-years birthday for the boyfriend.
But WC always tells me it's alright to have a simple celebration as long as he got to celebrate with me :)

Not just because I was busy, it was pretty difficult to plan a celebration for him this year cos of my plan was ruined by him:

1) He was on mobilisation so he rejected any idea that requires reservations i.e. staycation, surprise baking/ cooking class at AFC to prepare our own dinner. Bbooo!

2) He told me out of the blue that he would prefer not to have western cuisine when my first choice initially was a french dinner at Bistro Du Vin! *Roarrr*

3) And a few days before his birthday, he fell sick, leaving my only option to be Japanese cuisine.

More spoiler ahead:

WC rejected my idea to design his own birthday cake cos he doesn't want to eat the cake from the Icing Room.
Soooooooooo.. we went for tea at Dolce Tokyo without knowing it's run by MOF (his top dislike). YAY!

And of course, yours truly has more brilliant idea to tackle the choosy boyfriend.
Since we are both hooked on 4 pictures 1 word recently, I made him solve this to get to our dinner place!

Can you guess where is this?

Dinner at Fukuichi!
One of my colleague's recommendation, and Japanese food is also WC's favourite :)

Wanted to order something nicer for a birthday meal, but $80 for this sashimi platter is a tad disappointing in my opinion.

But the rest of the dishes make up for it.
Love this bamboo clams!

And this grilled beef is surprisingly tender! It's definitely on our order list if we go back again.

Happy Birthday my dearest

Antoinette for some dessert cos we need a place to unwrap our gift!

Yes! WC got two presents from me!!

But one of them is for me since he always love couple items! MUAHAHAHA
So glad he loves his present so much :D

Happy Birthday love! *Muacks*
