Lok Lok in Singapore: Malaysia Local Delights!

Guess where were we???
Nope we didn't head to Malaysia but it's our first time trying loklok in Singapore!!!

Pretty excited cos it's something different from the usual steamboat that we have.
I heard that strangers share the same pot of gravy in Malaysia! I will never do that though technically it's quite clean. Haha.
WC and I were at Katong last weekend and decided to get more people to join us since it's more fun to loklok together!

For $24 pax, I won't say it's cheap ( imagine you need to eat 100 sticks each to cover the cost!), but the idea is refreshing enough for us to go try it!

They had many of these fridges where you can choose the sticks you want to have.

And we tried the most popular Satay and Tom Yum soup!

In the end, each of us finished an average of 50 sticks, with the champion at 70+ sticks! I did 40 (not too bad too!) after I was spurred to compete with one of WC's friend. Heehee.

We had a good laugh over this.
Especially when YP tagged all of us in Penang on FB after that.
Jia asked how come I went to Malaysia without informing my parents! haha.

We drove down to Kallang Leisure Park after that for some bowling (and now we were tagged in Malacca cos we are supposed to travel downwards in our imaginary itinerary  ).
Was tired after a day at work so I didn't join in the game.
But it was entertaining enough watching the boys play.
All of them were so competitive because the loser has to treat supper! Hahaha.

WC looks the most pro here! Heehee

Some 豆浆油条 before we end the fun night!

Chiso Zanmai Clarke Quay

Missing for awhile cos I sent my phone for repairing.
So sad that my S4 takes more pixelated photo than any pok-gai phones around :(
All my photos with my friends were missing and everything here was taken from WC's S3.
Hopefully it's better now though I still find low light pictures very grainy and dull. Haizzzz

On a happier note, these two weeks have been great cos I got to meet my happy pill almost everyday!

Headed to Katong last weekend and we found this really pretty cafe.

Spot Stitch!

Perhaps they were short handed cos there were two parties going on, I feel a little neglected. Haha.
But the food was good! And cheap!
My Cordon Bleu with mushroom cream sauce <3

WC had a garlic fillet

WC came and picked me up from work whenever he could this week!
It is funny how his little actions can make me happy the whole day :)

Couldn't decide what's for dinner and since we were not in the mood for sushi, we headed to Chiso Zanmai for dinner.
Cos he always complains that I have buffet with anyone but him. LOL.

A ootd photo cos the miser felt the background was good for a picture. haha.

And in turn, I made him pose with his favourite.

Not exactly a spread but it's pretty much satisfactory for a $60 meal for two.

From the salad stop..

To the cooked food station..

The array of fried food

Our favourite salmon!

The only disappointment must be this.
The "live" champion ramen station involves the chef adding broth into the soup.
That's all. haha.

WC's favourite station.
Something new for us cos we can bring the 关东煮 on a stove back to our table.

See how happy the mister is.

And a photo of us cos we were eating with ERP behind us!

We took a nice long stroll to Fort Canning after dinner which I kinda regret after that.
Hahaha sounds unromantic I know. Cos the unfit me was aching all over the next day after climbing the flight of steps (plus we went for a run the day before dinner)!

The Perfect Weekend :)

Weekend was great!
After a routine week at work, we love spending our Saturday afternoon lazing around doing nothing and enjoying each other's company :)
WC was craving for Korean BBQ, but most of the restaurants we wanted to try were fully booked.
Found Corner Place Barbecue on Hungrygowhere and decided to give it a try!

Conveniently located beside Marina Square Food court, this place is a hidden gem!

Look at the array of food!
The quality of the food and service was not compromised though the place was fully packed.

They even have a cooked food section with the chef preparing Dobokki and fried pancake. Yumz!

Happy us with the food!

For $30+ pax, I am so coming back though we risked smelling like barbecue meat again!

Wanted to find a chillout place but everywhere was closed at 10pm (except Starbucks which was freaking crowded)
We are always in a dilemma to go for late night dates cos transportation is so expensive (boo!) plus we will be so tired the next day. Long gone were the days we can go out for midnight shows and still do supper after that! LOL.

Still, we decided to check out Switch.
Always wanted to bring WC after my girls brought me there once.
It is a subsidary of Timbre so yea, the feel is like Timbre. Just that it is air-conditioned and they performed a mixture of both English and Chinese songs.

Saturday band never goes wrong.
I really like the band performiing that day!
GroundZero, Haha I even went to like them on Facebook.

There was some lame hooha going on about a guy in red shirt who is going after many girls that night.
So all the red shirt guys were called up on stage to dance.
It was pretty entertaining except that they cut short a bulk of the performing time by the band. Mehh.

I was feeling so happy in my world of music (especially when he sang Korean song too! *melts*)
Plus I had a good laugh at the sulky boyfriend cos I spoiled a BIG plan of WC two days in a row!

***********

I followed the group Project Awareness on Facebook and was so impressed by how determined the founders were in doing good for the underprivileged and how much the organisation has grown in a few months time.
I remember Bella sharing about how Richie believe in doing some good, be it big or small everyday and I thought it will be a good pointer to keep in mind.
Since Project Awareness always have ad hoc activities, I thought it will be a good platform for us to start some voluntary work again!
I was really glad that WC agreed so spontaneously (what surprises me more is Mummy volunteer to join us the next time round we go!)
It was our first voluntary service together and together with some other volunteers, we went to deliver packet lunch to some of the residents in the rented flats at Boon Keng.

Reminded me of schooling time when I was still volunteering with Red Cross and Interact club :)
I guess everyone gets a little busy meeting up with our life expectations that we forgot this group of people who needed more help than us.
A little bit of warmth, a small chat to show that we care do mean a great deal to them.

Our hearty lunch to replace a photo of us after two hours of work! :)
Everything taste good when you do good!

What makes the activity more endearing, I saw a different side of the mister :)
Glad that we share the same passion and can't wait for the next one together!

Saw this quote of Facebook a few days back and thought it makes loads of sense.

Youth day date with the boy and minions!

Still waiting for PX to send us Van's wedding photo, a short blog post of my Youth Day date with love! :)
I was on leave the day after Van's wedding and decided to spend the day to complete some work and my vaccination, but love surprise me with a weekday date cos he took leave to accompany me! <3

Because we almost never have the chance to get a weekday afternoon date, I pester him to accompany me to look around for a good 1-for-1 lunch deal (haha stupid stuff I do)
As usual, I gave in to my hunger and gave up searching.
Since we were at Taka, we settled for Breeks.
Haven't eaten that for years but I doubt I will go back anytime soon.

WC's ribeye steak but we couldn't differentiate the tobasco sauce on the steak from blood from the steak =x

Since it's 1-for-1, I opted for the most expensive dish on the menu. LOL.
Turned out my River prawn spaghetti was much better.

WC brought me to watch Despicable Me 2 after lunch!
I finally got to take a picture with the giant Minion! Yipeeee!!!
The minions are TOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE and funny.
Bee do bee dooooooo...

Dinner was done at Bugis steamboat. Long time since we head there but the place never fails us though the food might not be the best we had :)

On a side note, I passed by our future home last week and was pleasantly surprised that they started painting already! Yabadabadoooo~
